About Shanghai Pocket (japan)
Shanghai Pocket came out for the Game Boy in 1998, published by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of puzzle games you could carry around, a digital version of the classic tile matching game that fit right in your pocket.
You control a cursor to select matching mahjong tiles, clearing them from the board layer by layer. The main objective is to remove every single tile from the layout. The game's signature mechanics involve hunting for pairs of identical, unblocked tiles; you have to plan several moves ahead because removing one tile can lock others. It starts calmly but the boards get more complex, demanding a sharp eye and patience. Playing it feels like quietly untangling a very satisfying knot.
