About Shadowgate (europe)
Shadowgate came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, published by Kemco. It was part of that wave of point and click adventures that felt different from the usual platformers and action games on the system, offering a slower, more deliberate kind of challenge.
You control an unnamed hero exploring the cursed Castle Shadowgate, room by room. Your main goal is to find and light the Beacons to stop the Warlock Lord. You move screen by screen, using a verb interface to look at objects, take items, and use them on the environment. The game is built on inventory puzzles and text descriptions; you might use a torch to light a sconce, or a rope to cross a chasm.
