Shadowgate 64 is one of those N64 hidden gems that never got enough love. You wake up in this eerie castle with no memory, and right away, the game throws these weird, almost dreamlike puzzles at you—like figuring out why a skeleton’s holding a key or how to get past a talking door that won’t shut up. The atmosphere’s thick, like a foggy night where every shadow feels like it’s hiding something.
The towers all have their own vibe—some are straight-up gothic horror, others feel like a twisted fairy tale—and the puzzles get seriously creative. I got stuck for way too long on one involving a painting and a bell, but when it finally clicked? Felt like a genius. Just don’t expect hand-holding; this game loves to mess with you in the best way.
If you’re into point-and-click adventures but wish they had more N64 jank and moody lighting, this one’s worth digging up.
