Man, Sensible Soccer on the Game Boy takes me back. It’s not as flashy as the console versions, but it’s got that same fast, arcadey feel—just tiny players booting a chunky pixel ball around. You pick a European team (obviously went for Italy first), and matches are quick, chaotic, and weirdly satisfying once you get the hang of the controls.
Scoring feels like pure luck at first, but then you start nailing those long shots from halfway across the pitch. The commentary’s just basic text pop-ups, but hearing “GOAL!” in blocky letters after a messy scramble in the box still hits different. Definitely one of those “just one more match” kind of games.
If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule from when soccer sims didn’t take themselves too seriously.
