Selection II - Ankoku No Fuuin is one of those obscure Game Boy RPGs that slipped under the radar for a lot of people. You start off picking between three character classes—I went with the warrior first, but honestly, the mage’s spells get ridiculous later on. The whole thing’s in Japanese, so unless you’re fluent or don’t mind guessing, expect some menu fumbling.

It’s got that classic dungeon-crawling feel with turn-based battles, and the music’s surprisingly moody for a Game Boy title. The sprites are tiny but weirdly charming, especially the way your party shuffles around in formation. Just don’t expect a deep story—most of the appeal is in the grind and figuring out how the heck the skill system works.

If you’re into retro RPGs with a bit of mystery (and maybe a translation guide), this one’s a neat little time capsule.
