About Section-z
Section-Z came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, a Capcom release from the early years of the console. It was part of that initial wave of games that established what the hardware could do, a side-scrolling shooter that felt ambitious for its time.
You control a lone astronaut in a powered suit, flying through a series of interconnected stages. Your goal is to navigate these areas, find the correct path to the end, and destroy the enemy core. The game is structured in a non-linear way; you explore screen by screen, and you can often choose which branching path to take next. You have a standard shot, but you can also collect power-ups to change your weapon, like a three-way spread or a laser. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty is steep, demanding precise movement and quick reactions.
