San Francisco Rush on N64 is that chaotic, slightly janky arcade racer where you’ll fishtail around tight corners, launch off absurd ramps, and somehow still make it to the finish line. The city’s hills are brutal—hit them wrong and you’re spinning out or clipping a building, but nail the shortcuts (like that alley jump near Chinatown) and you’ll shave seconds off your time. Cars handle like they’re on ice at first, but once you get used to sliding into turns, it clicks.
What makes it fun is how over-the-top everything feels. You’re not just racing; you’re yeeting your car off rooftops, bouncing between billboards, and discovering hidden routes that shouldn’t exist. The stunt track mode is pure madness, like someone took a Hot Wheels set and cranked it to 11. It’s not polished by modern standards, but that’s part of the charm—you’re basically wrestling with physics while going 120mph down Lombard Street.
Still holds up if you’re into arcade racers that don’t take themselves too seriously.
