About Same Game
I picked up Same Game for the original Game Boy back when it was released in 1990. It was developed by KID and published by Altron, a simple puzzle title that fit right in with the portable system's library of straightforward, engaging games. It didn't try to be an epic adventure; it was just a clever little block-matching game you could play in short bursts.
You control a cursor to select groups of two or more same-colored blocks. The main goal is to clear the entire playfield of these blocks by removing them in clusters. Your main tools are careful planning and pattern recognition, as you try to create large chain reactions that clear multiple groups at once. The game starts gently but the boards get more complex, demanding you think several moves ahead to avoid leaving isolated blocks. It feels satisfying to watch a screen full of color disappear with a few well-placed clicks.
