SD Hiryuu No Ken Densetsu is one of those weird, late-era N64 Japan-only fighters that never made it overseas. You’ve got these chibi-style martial artists duking it out in small but surprisingly detailed 3D arenas—think Power Stone but with more exaggerated anime flair.
The combat’s faster than it looks at first glance, with a mix of basic combos and special moves that feel satisfying once you get the timing down. Some characters are way more fun than others (the ninja girl’s teleport kicks are stupidly good), and the stages have little interactive bits like breakable walls that change up the flow.
It’s definitely rough around the edges—the camera freaks out sometimes, and the AI cheats like crazy on higher difficulties—but there’s charm in its jank. If you’re into obscure fighting games or just love that late ‘90s N64 aesthetic, it’s a neat little time capsule.
