S.C.A.T. came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Natsume. It was part of that late NES era where developers were really pushing the hardware, creating more complex and visually detailed action games.

You control a soldier in a powered suit, flying through the ruined streets of New York City to stop an alien invasion. Your main goal is to shoot your way through each side-scrolling stage, destroying every fish-like enemy in your path. Your suit gives you a jetpack for full flight control, and you're backed up by two orbiting cannons that rotate around you; you can lock their fire onto specific targets, which is essential for managing the swarms of enemies. Finding power-ups changes your main weapon from a simple gun to more powerful options like lasers, and you can also switch between two different soldiers on the fly, each with their own strengths. The game moves at a fast pace and gets quite difficult, demanding quick reflexes and smart use of your orbiting guns. It feels like a constant, hectic battle for survival where every shot and movement counts.
