About Roger Clemens Mvp Base Ball
Roger Clemens MVP Baseball came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Hudson Soft. It was one of many baseball games on the NES, but it stood out because it tried to represent real MLB teams and players of the era without using their actual names. You get 26 teams with rosters that closely mirror the real 1991 squads, using fictional names that are clear references, like M. Bash and J. Bash for Oakland's famous duo.
You control either a single team or a pitcher and batter in a game against a friend or the computer. The main goal is to win games, either in a one-off exhibition or a full 33-game season that leads into playoffs. Batting uses a familiar behind-the-pitcher view, but the fielding perspective shifts to a wide angle from the outfield stands once the ball is hit, which changes how you control your players. You can strike out opponents with a pitcher like Texas's R. Nolan, or try to hit a home run with Detroit's C. Fieldman. The game can be challenging, with pitching and timing your swings requiring practice. Playing it feels like a deliberate, sometimes tricky, but satisfying simulation of early 90s baseball.
