Rodland on the Game Boy is this weirdly charming little action-puzzler where you play as one of two fairy sisters—Tam or Rit—trying to rescue your mom from a tower full of monsters. You don’t just bash enemies, though. You smack them with a magic rod, flip them upside down, and then kick them like a soccer ball to clear the screen. It’s oddly satisfying once you get the timing down.
The levels are short but packed with secrets, and the music has that classic Game Boy bleep-bloop charm. Some of the later stages get pretty mean with enemy patterns, but it never feels unfair. If you’re into retro games that don’t take themselves too seriously, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
