Rockman 3 came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed and published by Capcom. It was part of that solid run of NES action games before the 16-bit consoles really took over. You play as the blue robot, Rockman, or Mega Man as he's known outside Japan.

You control Rockman through a series of themed stages, running, jumping, and shooting your arm cannon at various robot masters. The main goal is to stop Dr. Wily's latest scheme by defeating eight robot masters, then taking on his fortress. A signature mechanic is gaining a new weapon from each boss you defeat, which often acts as a specific weakness for another. You also get a slide move for dodging attacks and fitting through tight spaces, and Rush the robotic dog appears to help with special navigation, like spring jumps or coil-based flight. The game has a deliberate pace with some sharp difficulty spikes, especially in the later stages. It feels satisfying to learn enemy patterns and finally clear a tricky section that gave you trouble before.
