Rockin' Kats came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by Atlus. It was part of that later wave of NES games where developers were getting more comfortable with the hardware, trying out new ideas before everyone moved on to the 16-bit consoles.

You control Willy, a cat who punches enemies with his spring-loaded boxing glove. Your goal is to rescue your girlfriend Jill from a dog mafia boss. The main mechanic is using your glove as a tool; you can shoot it to hit switches or enemies, but more importantly, you can latch onto ceilings and platforms to swing across gaps. The levels are structured screen by screen, and you often have to find a specific character in each stage to get a passcard before you can leave. The pacing is quick, and some of the platforming requires precise timing with the swinging mechanic. It feels like a solid, slightly quirky action game from that era where you always have to be thinking about your next swing.
