Robotron 64 takes the chaotic, screen-filling madness of the original arcade game and cranks it up for the N64. You’re dumped into these tight arenas where robots, mutants, and other nightmare fuel come at you from all sides—and your only job is to survive. Dual-stick controls (well, as close as the N64 gets) let you move and shoot independently, which is a lifesaver when you’re cornered by a swarm of those spider-bot things.
The levels get brutal fast, but there’s something satisfying about weaving through bullets and clearing a room just before your last life ticks away. The graphics are chunky in that late-’90s way, but the explosions and particle effects still hold up. If you’ve got a nostalgia itch for arcade shooters where one wrong move means instant vaporization, this’ll scratch it.
Just don’t blame me when you start seeing enemy patterns in your sleep.
