Man, RoboCop 2 on GB is one of those classic Game Boy titles that somehow makes clunky controls part of its charm. You start off stomping through Detroit’s pixelated streets, blasting drug dealers and dodging molotov cocktails—just like the movies, except your bullets move at the speed of a sleepy turtle.
The first level tricks you into thinking it’s easy, then suddenly you’re getting swarmed by thugs from both sides. Pro tip: conserve ammo, because running out leaves you awkwardly punching enemies like a cyborg with stiff shoulders. The soundtrack? Pure 8-bit nostalgia, all beeps and bloops that somehow make getting shot at feel heroic.
It’s janky, it’s unfair in places, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about finally nailing that last boss after your fifth game over. Just don’t expect the battery in your Game Boy to survive the grind.
