I remember picking up RoboCop 2 for the Game Boy back in 1991. It was published by Ocean Software, one of the many licensed games that tried to capture a movie's action on the small screen. During that era, you expected a certain kind of side scrolling challenge from these portable cartridges, and this one fit right in.

You control RoboCop through a series of urban levels, moving screen by screen. Your main goal is to stop the Nuke gang and their new cyborg leader. You walk and shoot criminals with your Auto 9 pistol, which has limited ammo you must collect. You also punch enemies up close and occasionally use a screen clearing bomb. The pacing is methodical; you cannot rush. Enemies respawn when you leave and re enter a screen, which makes progress feel slow and the difficulty quite persistent. It feels like a deliberate, sometimes punishing, trek through a dangerous city.
