Road Rash on GB is exactly what it sounds like—a stripped-down, pocket-sized version of the chaotic bike racing we loved on consoles. The controls are simple (just accelerate, brake, and swing your chain at rivals), but don’t let that fool you. Traffic comes out of nowhere, and those pixelated bikers love to shove you into oncoming trucks.
It’s janky in that classic Game Boy way—the screen’s tiny, so you’ve got about half a second to react before a sedan sends you flying. But there’s something weirdly satisfying about landing a solid hit on some punk in a leather jacket while barely staying upright yourself. Just don’t expect the same speed as the Genesis version; this one chugs a bit when too many bikes pile up.
If you’ve got nostalgia for the series or just love rough-and-tumble racers, it’s a fun little time capsule. Just keep your expectations in check—this is pure, unfiltered ‘90s handheld chaos.
