Real Bout Special Game

Real Bout Special on Game Boy is one of those fighters that feels way bigger than the tiny screen. You pick your brawler—Terry Bogard’s my go-to—and suddenly you’re pulling off fireball motions with the D-pad like it’s an arcade cabinet. The sprites are chunky but full of personality, and the controls? Surprisingly smooth for a handheld port.
Matches are fast, messy, and just the right amount of chaotic. You’ll whiff a special move, eat a counter hit, and then somehow land a desperation super to steal the round. The AI doesn’t mess around either—expect to get perfected a few times while you figure out the timing. It’s got that classic SNK charm where losing just makes you mash "continue" harder.
If you’ve got a Game Boy and a thing for 90s fighters, this one’s a knockout.
