Rayman 2 on N64 is one of those rare 3D platformers that still holds up today. You start off in this lush, dreamy world—until, of course, robot pirates wreck everything and kidnap your friends. Typical Tuesday for Rayman.
The controls feel smooth, even by modern standards, and the levels have this great mix of exploration and tight platforming. Some of those later stages? Brutal. But in a good way—like when you finally nail that tricky jump after five attempts.
What really sticks with me is the art style. Even on the N64’s hardware, the colors pop, and the weird, floaty landscapes give it this surreal fairy-tale vibe. Plus, the soundtrack slaps. You’ll be humming those tunes for days.
If you missed this back in the day, it’s still a blast to play now—just don’t blame me when you get stuck on that one barrel chase level.
