Ranma 1-2 on the Game Boy is one of those Japan-only gems that never made it overseas—which is a shame, because it’s actually a solid little side-scroller. You play as Ranma (obviously), jumping between his male and female forms mid-fight, which adds a fun twist to the usual punch-and-kick routine. The story’s all about tracking down a rumored cure for his curse, so expect a lot of familiar faces from the manga/anime popping up to either help or throw hands.
It’s got that classic Game Boy jank—hit detection can be iffy, and some jumps feel way tighter than they should—but the sprite work is surprisingly expressive for the hardware. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s a neat time capsule with some decent fan service. Just don’t expect a deep combat system or anything.
