About Ranma 1-2 - Netsuretsu Kakutou Hen (japan)
Ranma 1-2: Netsuretsu Kakutou Hen came out in 1990 for the Game Boy, a time when portable games were often simple and direct. It was developed by Atelier Double, and it's a side-scrolling action game based on the popular manga and anime series. You don't need to be a fan to pick it up, but it fits right in with other early Game Boy titles that focused on straightforward, character-driven action.
You control Ranma Saotome, moving from left to right across single-screen stages. Your main goal is to defeat all the enemies in each area before you can proceed to the next. The combat is basic; you punch and kick your way through various opponents. A key mechanic is finding buckets of water, which cause Ranma to transform between his male and female forms, though this doesn't drastically change the gameplay. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be sharp, especially with limited continues. It feels like a brisk, challenging brawler from the era, demanding quick reflexes and persistence to see it through.
