Ranma 1-2 - Kakugeki Mondou!! is one of those weird, charming Game Boy fighters based on the Ranma ½ anime. You pick from Ranma, Akane, or a handful of other characters—each with their own goofy moves—and duke it out in tiny pixelated arenas. The controls are simple, but some of the special moves take a little practice to pull off (good luck nailing Ranma’s chestnut fist without spamming buttons).
It’s definitely a product of its time—the sprites are small, and the stages feel cramped—but there’s something fun about the chaotic energy of it all. If you’re into retro anime games or just want to see Ranma flip around in monochrome, it’s a neat little time capsule. Just don’t expect Street Fighter-level depth.
