Rambo on NES is one of those weird licensed games that somehow works. You play as, well, Rambo—running through jungles, blowing up helicopters with explosive arrows, and occasionally sneaking around enemy camps. The controls are a little stiff, but once you get used to them, it’s oddly satisfying to mow down soldiers with the machine gun.
It’s not just mindless shooting, though. There’s some light strategy—you’ve got limited ammo, so you’ll actually need to switch between weapons depending on the situation. And yeah, the graphics are basic, but the jungle levels actually have a decent atmosphere for an NES game. Just don’t expect the movie’s depth—this is pure 80s action in 8-bit form.
If you’re into retro action games with a bit of challenge, this one’s a fun time-waster.
