Racer Mini Yonku - Japan Cup (japan) Game
📅 1990 ✍️ Video System Co., Ltd.

Racer Mini Yonku - Japan Cup is one of those weird little NES racing games that feels like it was made in an afternoon—but in a strangely charming way. You pick from these tiny, boxy cars (they look more like toy RC racers than actual vehicles) and zip around short, simple tracks with a surprising amount of drift-heavy handling. The music’s got that classic 8-bit energy, all bouncy and repetitive in the best way.
First race in, you’ll probably slam into walls a lot—the controls take a second to click. But once you get the hang of throwing your car into slides around tight corners, it’s weirdly satisfying. There’s something about the way the screen scrolls just a little too fast that makes it feel chaotic in a fun, arcade-y way. Definitely not a deep racer, but perfect for quick bursts of nostalgia.
Also, the title screen has this aggressively cheerful Japanese voice shouting “MINI YONKU!” at you, which is either hype or terrifying depending on your volume settings.
