RR64—Ridge Racer 64—is one of those N64 racers that nails the arcade feel without taking itself too seriously. The second you start, you're thrown into a drift-heavy race with these chunky, satisfying cars that slide around corners like they're on butter. The tracks? Ridiculous in the best way—loops, tunnels, and tight city streets that keep you white-knuckling the controller.
Soundtrack’s pure late-'90s energy, all techno beats and bass that somehow makes drifting through a hairpin turn at 150mph feel even cooler. And yeah, the car selection’s solid—nothing crazy deep, but each one handles differently enough that you’ll probably stick with the one that just *feels* right after a few races.
It’s not the most realistic racer out there, but that’s the point. You’re here to powerslide past rivals and pretend the shoulder buttons are actual steering wheels. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school arcade rush.
