About R.c. Pro-am
R.C. Pro-Am came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, developed by Rare. It was one of those early NES titles that felt different from the platformers and action games dominating the system, offering a top-down racing experience that was both simple and challenging. You controlled a small radio-controlled car from an overhead view, racing against three computer opponents on a single-screen track. The goal was straightforward: finish in the top three to advance to the next course, navigating tight corners and avoiding hazards like puddles and oil slicks.
You drive your car using the D-pad, constantly jostling for position while collecting power-ups that appear on the track. These include missiles to fire at rivals, temporary speed boosts, and defensive shields. The tracks are short but packed with obstacles, and the computer racers are aggressive, making each race a frantic scramble. The difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and smart use of items to survive. Playing it feels like a tense, fast-paced battle where one small mistake can cost you the race.
