About R.b.i. Baseball 3 (unl)
R.B.I. Baseball 3 was an unlicensed cartridge for the Nintendo Entertainment System, released without Nintendo's official approval. It came out during a time when the NES was still dominant, and a few companies tried to bypass the official licensing process to get their games onto the console. This one was developed and published by Tengen, a company known for its legal battles with Nintendo over this very practice.
You control a full baseball team, managing both the fielding and the batting. The main goal is to outscore your opponent over nine innings. The game has a few distinct mechanics; you can choose from multiple pitching styles like fastballs and curves, and the fielding is simplified with an automatic dive for nearby balls. The pacing is quick for a baseball sim, and the difficulty can spike, especially when the computer decides to hit a streak of home runs. It feels like a stripped-down arcade version of the sport, where a single hit can change the entire game.
