Quake II on N64 is one of those shooters that still holds up—fast, brutal, and way ahead of its time. You drop onto this alien-infested planet, and within seconds, you're blasting through corridors with a shotgun while weird biomechanical monsters rush at you. The weapons feel chunky (in a good way), especially the railgun—nothing beats that satisfying thwip sound when you nail a headshot.
It’s not just mindless shooting, though. You’ve got objectives to complete, secret areas to find, and some surprisingly creepy atmosphere for an N64 game. The controls take a minute to adjust if you’re used to modern shooters, but once it clicks, the chaos is addictive. Just don’t expect the framerate to keep up when things get crazy.
If you’ve got a soft spot for retro FPS games, this one’s a must-play.
