About Pyramid
Pyramid came out in 1990 for the NES from American Video Entertainment. It was one of many puzzle games on the system trying to capture some of the attention that games like Tetris were getting at the time.
You control falling stone blocks, moving and rotating them to form solid lines across the bottom of the screen. The main goal is to prevent the stack from reaching the top. The shapes are all angular, with diagonal edges, which makes fitting them together much trickier than with standard bricks. You also have a limited supply of bombs to clear out small sections if you get into trouble. The game moves at a steady pace, and the unusual pieces quickly ramp up the difficulty. It feels like a constant, deliberate struggle to keep your structure from collapsing.
