Puzzle Bobble 64 is basically the N64 version of that old arcade game where you shoot colored bubbles to match and pop 'em. It’s simple at first—just aim, fire, and watch the chain reactions—but then the stages start throwing weird angles and tricky layouts at you. The Japanese version has that extra charm with all the cute little animations when you clear a level.
There’s something satisfying about lining up a perfect shot and seeing half the screen vanish in one go. The power-ups help when things get messy, though I still panic when the ceiling starts creeping down. It’s not the deepest puzzle game out there, but it’s the kind of thing you’ll boot up for a quick round and suddenly lose an hour to.
If you’ve played the arcade or SNES versions, this one feels right at home, just with slightly chunkier N64 graphics. The music’s catchy in that repetitive arcade way—you’ll either love it or mute it after 20 minutes.
