Puyo Puyo Sun 64 is that weird, slightly offbeat cousin of Tetris where you’re matching blobs instead of blocks. The core loop is simple—chain combos by stacking colored Puyos so they pop—but the real magic is in the chaos. This version throws in Sun Puyos, which act like wildcards but also mess with gravity when they vanish. One minute you’re setting up a clean 4-chain, the next your entire stack collapses because a Sun Puyo decided to nope out.
It’s got that classic N64 charm—bright, chunky visuals and a soundtrack that’s equal parts cheerful and frantic. The AI opponents start friendly but quickly turn ruthless, especially if you’re playing the Japanese version (no mercy here). I lost way too many matches because I underestimated how fast a CPU could drop a 7-chain on my head.
If you like your puzzle games with a side of panic, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t blame me when you start seeing Puyos in your sleep.
