About Puyo Puyo (japan)
I first played Puyo Puyo on the NES back in 1993, a release by Compile that brought the arcade puzzle experience home. It arrived during a time when the console was packed with platformers and RPGs, offering a different kind of challenge entirely.
You control the falling pairs of colored blobs, called Puyos, rotating and placing them to create chains. The main goal is to clear your own screen while sending garbage blocks to your opponent. The signature mechanics are building multi-step chain reactions and managing the rising stack as it threatens to top out. The game starts deceptively simple but the pacing quickly becomes frantic, demanding quick decisions and foresight. It feels like a constant, satisfying battle against both the clock and another player's strategy.
