About Purikura Pocket 2
Purikura Pocket 2 came out for the Game Boy in 2001, developed by Tose. It was part of that wave of late era portable games that focused on personal expression and mini games rather than epic adventures. You could find it tucked in with other niche titles, a small digital photo booth you could carry in your pocket.
You control a character navigating a series of menus and themed backgrounds. The main goal is to take fun, customized photos of yourself or a friend by selecting different frames, stamps, and decorative elements. Signature mechanics include arranging your pose and expression before the shot, then drawing directly on the photo with the D pad to add handwritten messages or doodles. The game is slow and creative, with no real pressure or failure state. It feels like having a private, silly art project that fits in the palm of your hand.
