Prophecy - The Viking Child is one of those weird little Game Boy platformers that feels like it should be more famous than it is. You play as this tiny Viking kid (who somehow fights better than most adults) jumping between floating islands, dodging weird enemies, and collecting runes. The controls are a bit stiff—typical early Game Boy vibes—but once you get used to it, there’s something oddly satisfying about the way your axe swings.

First thing you’ll notice? The music. It’s got this eerie, almost mystical tune that sticks in your head way longer than it should. And the levels? They’re short but packed with secrets—hidden caves, extra lives tucked behind waterfalls. Took me a few tries to realize some platforms only appear if you stand in the right spot.

Not gonna lie, the difficulty spikes hard after the first few levels. One minute you’re casually hopping on mushrooms, the next you’re getting swarmed by fire-breathing… things. Still, if you’re into retro platformers with a Norse twist, it’s a solid time-waster. Just don’t throw your Game Boy when the ice level hits.
