Probotector 2 on Game Boy is one of those classic run-and-gun shooters that somehow feels even more intense on a tiny screen. You start off with a basic blaster, but within minutes you're grabbing power-ups—homing missiles, spread shots—while dodging waves of robotic enemies that just keep coming. The controls are tight, which is good because the later levels get brutal.
It's got that same vibe as Contra but with a weird, slightly janky charm from being crammed onto the Game Boy. The sprites are small but surprisingly detailed, and the music has that classic chiptune urgency. I remember getting stuck on the third level for ages because those flying drones just wouldn't let up.
If you're into retro shooters, this one's a solid pick—just don't expect it to go easy on you. That last boss still gives me nightmares.
