About Pro Yakyuu - Family Stadium '87 (japan)
Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium '87 came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, published by Bandai. It was essentially an updated version of the original Family Stadium, featuring new team rosters for that year. This was a time when solid baseball simulations were still a novelty on home consoles, and it fit right in on the Famicom.
You control a full baseball team, pitching, batting, and fielding to win games. The main goal is to outscore your opponent over nine innings. Key mechanics include a straightforward pitching interface where you select a type of pitch and aim its location, and a batting system that relies on timing your swing to make solid contact. Fielding is mostly automatic, with you directing throws to the appropriate base. The game moves at a quick pace, and while it is not overly difficult, mistiming a swing or misjudging a fly ball can easily cost you a game. It feels responsive and satisfying when you connect with a pitch for a clean hit.
