Man, Pro Wrestling on the Game Boy is such a weird little time capsule. You pick one of four wrestlers—I always went with Fighter Hayabusa because his mask looked cool—and then it's just you, some janky pixelated grappling, and a crowd that cheers like they're watching the real thing. The controls are simple (d-pad and two buttons, that's it), but good luck pulling off a suplex without getting reversed half the time.
It's clunky by today's standards, sure, but there's something charming about how hard it tries. The ring announcer shouts "WRESTLE!" at the start, the ref actually counts pins (slowly), and if you play long enough, your guy starts sweating these big blocky pixels. Starman's backbreaker still hurts my soul to this day. Definitely more fun with a friend, though—nothing beats arguing over whether that was a clean pin or not.
If you dig old-school wrestling games, this one’s a fun little relic to mess around with.
