Pro Mahjong Kiwame 64 is one of those rare N64 games that makes you forget you're playing on a console—it feels like sitting at a real mahjong table. The tiles have this satisfying weight when you slide them across the screen, and the AI doesn’t mess around. First time I booted it up, I thought I could coast on basic strategy, but nope—those computer players read me like an open book.
Visually, it’s got that late-'90s charm with crisp, colorful tiles and smooth animations. The sound design nails it too, from the clack of shuffling to the little victory jingles. If you’re into mahjong, this is one of the better ways to play it on the N64, especially if you want a challenge that doesn’t hold your hand. Just don’t expect to win right away.
