Princess Tomato in Salad Kingdom is this weird, charming little NES adventure game where you play as a cucumber knight (yes, really) trying to rescue a tomato princess from evil fruit rebels. It's part visual novel, part point-and-click—except you're using a controller, so it's more like "press buttons and hope you don't accidentally insult the eggplant guard."

The dialogue is ridiculous in the best way, and the art has that early '90s anime-meets-Western-cartoon vibe. You'll spend half your time talking to sentient vegetables and the other half figuring out which item in your inventory convinces the broccoli guy to let you pass. Pro tip: Save often. Some of these puzzles are nonsensical even by retro game standards.

Controls are simple enough (Z to confirm, X to cancel—classic NES setup), but good luck guessing what combination of mushroom bribes and dramatic speeches gets you to the next screen. It's the kind of game where you either embrace the absurdity or rage-quit after the third time a carrot betrays you.
