Power Mission Game

Power Mission on Game Boy is one of those games that feels like it got lost in the shuffle back in the day—which is a shame, because it’s way more interesting than most people realize. You start off with this little pixel dude (or dudette, I forget if there’s a choice) and immediately get thrown into these weird, maze-like levels where you’re dodging traps and fighting off enemies with this clunky but satisfying melee attack.
The puzzles aren’t just "push a block" filler—some of them actually make you stop and think, especially when the screen starts filling up with those floating skull things. And yeah, the controls take a minute to get used to—this isn’t exactly smooth like later Game Boy games—but once it clicks, there’s something weirdly addictive about the janky combat and the way the levels ramp up.
It’s got that classic "one more try" energy, even when you’re getting wrecked by the same enemy for the tenth time. If you’re into obscure retro stuff that actually has some depth, this one’s worth digging up.
