Power League Baseball 64 is one of those N64 baseball games that flew under the radar outside Japan, but it’s got some real charm. The controls are simple enough—swing with A, bunt with B—but the pitching mechanics actually require a bit of strategy, mixing fastballs and curves to keep batters guessing.
What I love is how the stadiums pop with color, even on the N64’s chunky graphics. The crowd animations are surprisingly lively, and there’s something satisfying about watching a well-timed hit send the ball sailing over the outfield. Multiplayer’s where it really shines, though—nothing like trash-talking your friend after striking them out with a sneaky slider.
It’s not MLB-level realism, but for a late ‘90s Japanese baseball sim, it holds up way better than you’d expect.
