Man, Popeye on Game Boy takes me back. You start off with that classic tune, and suddenly you're dodging bottles thrown by Bluto while trying to catch hearts from Olive Oyl—who, let's be honest, keeps getting herself kidnapped. The first level feels simple until you realize those pesky seagulls swoop down at the worst possible moment.
What I love is how the spinach actually matters—grab a can and Popeye goes full beast mode, punching through everything. The pixel art somehow makes Swee'Pea look adorable while Bluto stays permanently grumpy. It's got that perfect arcade feel where you'll die a bunch at first, but each run teaches you the timing for jumps and punches.
Also, no one warned me about the level where the floor disappears. Pure chaos. Still one of the best Game Boy ports of an arcade classic.
