Popeye 2 on the Game Boy is one of those weird little platformers that feels like it got lost in time. You’re punching ghosts, jumping over barrels, and collecting those floating hearts like it’s 1991 all over again—because it was. The controls are stiff in that classic Game Boy way, but there’s something oddly charming about how simple it is. No fancy combos, just Popeye doing what he does best: smacking things after eating spinach.
It’s short, kinda janky, and the music loops way too fast, but if you’ve got a soft spot for handheld games that didn’t overthink things, this one’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t expect it to hold your attention for more than an afternoon.
