Pooyan is one of those weird, charming NES games that somehow makes shooting wolves out of the sky with arrows feel totally normal. You play as Mama Pig (yes, really), trying to save her piglets from wolves floating by on balloons. The wolves drop rocks or bombs, and you’ve got to time your shots just right—miss, and you’ll watch your poor piglets get carried away.

It starts simple, but those wolves get faster and sneakier real quick. The music’s got that classic Konami bouncy energy, and the whole thing feels like a fever dream someone turned into an arcade game. I still remember the first time I realized you could ricochet arrows off the sides of the screen—total game-changer.

It’s short, weird, and way more fun than it has any right to be. Just don’t blame me when you start humming the theme music hours later.
