Pokemon Stadium 2 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, developed and published by Nintendo. It was a follow up to the original Stadium, arriving at a time when the N64 was still the main console and the Pokemon Gold and Silver games were fresh on the Game Boy. You don't control a character walking around. Instead, you manage a team of Pokemon imported from the Game Boy games via the Transfer Pak. The main goal is to win the Stadium Cup tournaments, battling through rounds of trainers with increasingly tough teams. Signature mechanics include the minigame mode, where up to four players compete in quick, silly games like Lickitung Sushi-Go-Round or Clefairy Says, and the challenging Gym Leader Castle, which recreates the Johto and Kanto gym leader battles with much higher difficulty. The pacing is fast during battles but allows for careful team planning between matches. Playing it feels like finally seeing your pocket monsters come to life on the big screen, with all the strategy and chaos that entails.
