Pocket Monsters Snap (the Japanese version of Pokémon Snap) is one of those weird, chill N64 games that somehow makes taking pictures of digital creatures way more fun than it sounds. You ride this little cart through different biomes—jungles, beaches, volcanoes—and try to snap the best shots of Pokémon doing their thing. Some just wander around, others react if you toss apples at them or play music. The scoring system’s kinda picky (good luck getting a perfect shot of Pikachu on that surfboard), but there’s something satisfying about nailing a rare pose or catching an evolution mid-sparkle.
It’s not fast-paced, but that’s the point. You’ll replay levels just to see if Charizard shows up in the cave this time or if the hidden Mew path unlocks. The graphics are pure late-90s N64 charm—blocky textures, but the colors pop. Definitely a niche pick, but if you ever wanted to be a wildlife photographer in the Pokémon world, this is still the best way to do it.
