Pocket Kanjirou is one of those weird little Game Boy gems you stumble on when digging through Japan-only releases. It's got this odd mix of puzzle and action—you're basically a tiny samurai hopping between floating platforms, slicing up monsters with your sword. The controls feel a little stiff at first (it is an old GB game), but once you get the timing down, there's something satisfying about chaining jumps and slashes.

What really stands out is the art style—super chunky pixel characters with these exaggerated animations, especially when you mess up and your guy flails into a pit. The music’s got that classic Game Boy chiptune vibe, too, all bleepy and frantic when things get chaotic. Not gonna lie, some of the later stages get brutal with the platforming, but it’s the kind of game where you keep retrying just to see the next weird enemy design.

If you’re into obscure retro stuff, this one’s a neat curiosity to kill an afternoon with.
