About Pocket Golf
Pocket Golf came out for the original Game Boy in 1990, published by Nintendo. It was one of many simple, portable sports titles that filled out the system's library, offering a quick round of golf without much fuss. You did not need a manual or a lot of time to understand what it was about; you just picked it up and started swinging.
You control a golfer from an overhead view, moving screen by screen across each hole. Your main goal is to get the ball into the cup in as few strokes as possible. The core mechanics involve selecting a club, aiming your shot, and then timing a power meter for the swing. You have to account for obstacles like sand traps and water hazards, which can quickly ruin a good score. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the physics demand some patience to master.
