Pit Fighter on GB is one of those rough-around-the-edges Game Boy brawlers that somehow just works. You pick your fighter—I usually go for the big guy with the slow but brutal punches—and then it's straight into these grimy little street fights where every hit feels like it actually hurts.
The sprites are tiny and kinda blocky, but there's something satisfying about how they animate when you land a solid uppercut. Opponents have their own quirks too—some spam kicks, others try to grapple you constantly. Took me a few matches to realize you can actually counter grabs if you time it right.
It's not exactly deep by modern standards, but there's a weird charm to how straightforward it is. No fancy combos, just two dudes beating the pixels out of each other until someone's health bar gives out. Perfect for quick sessions when you just want to punch something.
