About Pin-bot (europe)
Pin-Bot came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Rare. It was part of that wave of arcade pinball adaptations trying to capture the feel of the real table on a home console. You got a decent number of these conversions on the NES, and this one was a solid attempt at bringing a specific machine into your living room.
You control the flippers, trying to keep the ball in play on a multi-level table. The main goal is to complete the missions by hitting specific targets to wake the Pin-Bot, which involves lighting all the inserts in his face. Key mechanics include shooting the ball into the vortex to advance to the next playfield and aiming for the skill shot at the start of each ball to earn a bonus. The game moves quickly, and the physics can be unforgiving, leading to a lot of sudden drains. It feels like a constant fight against the incline, where a single good shot can change your entire game.
